The Environment Group
The Environment Group seeks to promote environmental education and an empathy with the environment among pupils and staff.
The Group comprises of a group of staff and the S6 Environment Committee.
We have undertaken or are undertaking:

- The production of an Eco Code for the school.
- Work towards the Silver Award in the Eco Schools Scheme.
- The setting up of a bigger and better recycling scheme to include paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, drinks cans, glass, printer cartridges and mobile phones.
- The production of information leaflets about the history, geography, landscape and culture of the Ellon area to be used officially throughout the "Authority".

- The planting of trees, shrubs and bulbs around the school.
- The continuing purchase of benches and tables for pupil use outside.
- An audit of the whole school curriculum to gauge the extent of environmental education and to promote it.
- A walk and cycle to school week.
Some of these are on-going and we will tackle anything else that crops up.
Soon we will begin work on a School Travel Plan to promote healthier lifestyles and to reduce traffic pollution.
Everyone is a global citizen and should play their part in any environmental matters - probably the big issue of the 21st century. We want everyone at Ellon Academy to be aware of this and act accordingly.
