ART

S1/2 classes

Throughout his career most of Goldsworthy's work has been made in the open air, in places as diverse as the Yorkshire Dales, Grize Fiord in the Northern Territories of Canada, the North Pole, Japan, the Australian outback, and Dumfriesshire. The materials he uses are those to hand in the remote locations he visits: twigs, leaves, stones, snow and ice, reeds and thorns. Most works are ephemeral but demonstrate, in their short life, Goldsworthy's extraordinary sense of play and of place.

Follow the link below to take a look at his work, then select 1 piece and tell us what you think of it.

Then create your own 'Goldsworthy' style sculpture, photograp it and bring it to school for your folio

S3 classes

Continue working toward your design solution.

S4 classes

Priority for S4 pupils is to complete your 'critical' essays by Feb 15. Ensure you are on track to hand in for this date. Thereafter, you need to begin work on preparing for your Expressive exam.

Titles are: Carboot Sale, Deep in Thought, Close Up, City Life, Summer Festival, Left Luggage.

Research these and identify which title you want to develop.

S5/6 classes

Project completion is of the utmost importance Design solution to be completed for 25 Feb! Work for this may be done at home.
You may be supported by others, but this must be your work.
Also,
Produce additional studies for your expressive project. These need to be relevant to your theme and of the highest standard.
Remember to use a variety of media and papers. You might consider working on ideas from your investigative studies in preparation for the final outcome!

Preparation for the critical paper should be carried out using internet and book resources you have access to.
You are required to have an indepth knowledge of the background, work and influences of the 3 designers and 3 artists you have chosen. You should be able to acknowledge their importance in their field and comment personally on how their work impacts on you, through analysis and by making comparisions and contrasting the work of 2 from different periods or styles.
